SOCIOSPHERE

The Social Science Association, Sociosphere, St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women, Ernakulam focuses on conducting and organising events and activities related to the subject of social science and assigned duties by the faculties of the college.The main goal of the Social Science Association is to embody the activities related to Social science as a subject and to make people aware of the importance of various socially relevant matters. It functions as a body of the president of the association,the secretary, and the treasurer, along with the group members who are the students of the social science optional at St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women, Ernakulam.

Activities include campaigns for raising awareness on the importance of social matters, organizing events on themes connected to Social Science; giving students and members a forum for discussion and talk on vital matters. During the activities of the Association information is provided regarding details of major events and attributes of events in History, Economic changes, Political movements and more concerning our nation and the world. The convenors of The women cell are Dr Siji John, Assistant Professor in Social Science Education.

OBJECTIVES

To conduct activities related to creating awareness regarding social relevant matters and important days.
To foster the spirit of social consciousness and national feeling.
Coordinate activities which raise the spirit of cooperation among members and spread positivity to the college environment.
To remember and celebrate our national freedom fighters and important personalities of our nation.
Encourage creative work and publications from association members.

QUIT INDIA DAY CELEBRATION

The Sociosphere association’s first event was the Quit India day celebration. The first B. Ed social science students conducted the event. The objective of conducting the event was to remember and celebrate the important days and important persons of our freedom struggle for India’s Independence. The program started with a prayer and then the event started with an introduction about the day followed by the causes, important personalities related to the event, the consequences and result of the event and each of them presented by the members.

TALENTS DAY

The Talents Day of the Social science optional was on 2st August 2023. It was a day to show the talents of the members and celebrate and appreciate each other. Every member of the association participated in the event and showed their talents. From dance, music, art and craft work, cake baking and drawing. The program started with a prayer song then followed the above events. The drawings, art and craft and cake making were displayed through Powerpoint presentations . At the end all members danced together with full energy.

MANAVA MITHRI RALLY

On Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, the NSS Unit number 247 of St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women in Ernakulam organized a special event as part of NSS Week. The event was the Manava Mythri Rally, which aimed to send a strong message against drug usage and promote healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The highlight of the event was the presence of Shahina K, Sub-Inspector of Police at Central Police Station, who graciously flagged off the rally. Her presence added a sense of importance and significance to the event.The rally took place at 3:40 p.m. and started from the college premises. It was an energetic and colorful procession, with students and faculty members enthusiastically participating. The rally is through the streets of Ernakulam, spreading the message against drug usage and emphasized the importance of education, counseling, and support systems to help those struggling with addiction.
